The used car buying checklist
What to do before the viewing, at the viewing and before you pay.
Before you go
Run the free check, read the advisories, look up where the model usually fails its MOT and compare the asking price with similar cars.
At the viewing
See the car in daylight and start it from cold. Check the V5C logbook shows the seller’s name and the address you are standing at.
Before you pay
Run a full history check, agree the price and what is included in writing, and pay by bank transfer rather than cash.
