What MOT advisories really mean
Advisories are the tester telling you what will need money soon. Read them before you negotiate.
An advisory is not a fail
An advisory means the tester saw something that is legal today but will need work soon, like thin brake pads or a tyre close to the limit.
Minor, major and dangerous
Minor defects pass but are recorded. Major and dangerous defects are fails. Dangerous means the car should not be driven until it is fixed.
Watch for repeats
An advisory that appears year after year usually means it was never fixed. Use it to ask for money off, or to ask the seller to fix it first.
